More information is in the "About Us" section in the menu on the left.

Weather considerations - race currently proceeding as planned
Unless course conditions are unsafe due to ice or snow or if it is considered unsafe for people to travel to the event, the race will go ahead as planned.
The current forecast is for heavy snow on Saturday night into Sunday morning. However, this has been a moving feast throughout the week and, as the inclement weather is only forecast for hours rather than days, the decision to postpone the race will be taken late in the day.
The course will be checked on Saturday and an update provided here (i.e the Half Marathon page on the gbrc.org.uk website). Unfortunately, this will not allow consideration of an overnight snow event but hopefully the forecast will be firmed up and more accurate by that point.
There is provision to delay the start of the race by up to 30 minutes on the day should that make the difference.
If the race cannot proceed on the chosen day, a new date will be selected and advised on this page as soon as is possible.
Existing race entries will obviously be valid for the new date and unfortunately refunds will not be made.
jmontgomery writes "Though snow isn't predicted until Saturday evening, it's looking like it might be very icy tomorrow morning.
In case of heavy ice and/or snow, for those with a mountain bike, I suggest meeting at Rayne Station Cafe at 9:30 for an off-road ride along the Flitch Way returning to the cafe for 11, or when we've had enough of the cold!
If you can't make the ride, why not come along to Rayne at 11 for tea and cake anyway?
See you there! James "

Cycling Saturday - This week, Rayne Booking Hall Cafe
jmontgomery writes "Our 11:00 destination for cycling this Saturday is the Rayne Booking Hall Cafe where it has just been confirmed they are expecting us. I suspect numbers will be down this week as several of the regulars are sunning themselves in Lanazarote while the rest of us toughen up in the British winter.
09:00 departure from Morrisons for one of our usual routes, probably the 30 miler taking in Fairstead, Ranks Green, Walthams, (Pleshey), Howe Street and Rayne for elevenses.
This route and possible variations (aka getting lost... ) on the day are known to our regular riders and becoming more familiar to newer cycling participants but please contact me directly if you need any further route information - if you do not have my email address please contact me using the Contact Us link on the left.
Shorter options would be from Witham or Kelvedon at 1000ish to get you there for 1100 with time to spare - via Ranks Green, passing old Essex Showground and on to Rayne - again this shorter route should be known to both regular and newer cyclists but please contact me if you would like any further information.

However, please be mindful that we are expecting exceptionally cold conditions and would advise that consideration is given to this when selecting your kit, etc.
See you Thursday!

If you would like a place on the coach this year the cost is £11 per person and all runners and supporters (family, frends, children) are welcome to join us. It's usually more reliable/less stressful than public transport and it's good for morale to have the support and camaraderie of fellow runners/supporters. We'll be offering places to other clubs shortly so do please let me know ASAP. Debs

Southern XC Championships
lorraine writes "Dave Andrews travelled to Brighton on Saturday as Witham's only representative at the Southern XC Championships (Brigid couldn't see anyone else from the club in the results).
The men's race was 12k and, apparently the course was tough with a hill at the end of each lap. Dave finished the course in 89.29."

Due to the adverse weather conditions that are predicted, I shall be keeping a close eye on the weather for Thursday evening.
If a decision is made to cancel the training session on Thursday, I will post an article on the website as soon as possible informing members of this.
Therefore, can I ask you all to check the website for further information regarding this matter. If you know of a club member who does not use/have access to the website, please ensure that you keep them updated.
Many thanks for your patience.
Rach.

Benfleet 15 - late results
lorraine writes "Apologies for taking time to get these results published - I think the AGM and assocaited issues got in the way!
After the club Awards Dinner on the Saturday evening, a few hardy Witham souls were seen participating in the tough multi-terrain Benfleet 15 – congratulations to Mike, Shelley and Dave who managed both events!
Paul Cole was the first Witham vest to finish Benfleet, just missing a sub 2 hours as he finished in 2:00:19. Mike Moy was the next Witham runner to finish (2:20:56), just in front of Abbey Weaver (2:21:26), Shelley Enders (2:23:30) and then Dave Payne (2:30:29).
Well done to all of you!
