SANDHURST – SAAB SALOMON TURBO-X TRAIL RACE

The feedback so far, o­n the Commando Challenge versus the Sandhurst Turbo Trail Challenge has almost been overwhelmingly in favour of the Sandhurst event o­n 28th September. With this in mind I now want to look for some firmer commitments.

At present I can arrange accommodation at a local Travelodge (in Camberley) for £15 per person per night for a couple sharing or £10 per person per night for 3 people willing to share. For those wanting to travel down o­n the day the drive time from Witham is around 2 hours.

For those wishing to stay the weekend there are several other towns close by including Bracknell, Reading and Windsor offering pubs, clubs and resturants.

Debs Cutler has also suggested that people may wish to try the “Going Ape” facility at Bracknell involving swinging through the trees, rope bridges etc. See link below

DOG RACING NIGHT AT ROMFORD

Kev Harper is canvassing interest in a greyhound racing night at Romford o­n Saturday 14th June. The cost per person will be around £17 each, including the cost of the coach. DAY OUT

We are also thinking of organising a day trip to Margate probably o­n Saturday 5th July, something along the lines of the “Johnny Boys Day Out”, the o­nly cost here would be the coach costs. Would you please feedback to me interest in this by 13th April.

As previously detailed a low key run from one of our favourite Summer Pub Run venues at Cressing. Early indications are that there will be a good turnout for either a 4.2 or 5.2.

I have been asked to give Sue at the Pub some idea of numbers that are staying on afterwards for either lunch or a snack.

I have the menu which includes: Fish Dishes, Omelettes, Jackets, Burgers, Baguettes, Sandwiches, Steak 'n' Kidney, Gammon, Chicken all with side salads, veg, chips, potatoes etc. There is also a good selection of desserts.

EA East are hosting their first Regional Awards Evening at Homerton College, Cambridge on Saturday 29th September 2007. This is a great opportunity to nominate someone from our club for oustanding contribution to WRC. The nomination forms can be found via the EA website www.englandathletics.org/east.

It would be great to have a few tables at the event too. Tickets are £20 per head or £155 for a table of 8. The evening includes some fantastic guest speakers, champagne reception and an auction let by our own Joe McEwan.
