Commando Challenge? Posted by: David Payne on Monday, March 10, 2008 - 03:37 AM Summerchamp
| As you may know for the last three years an ever-growing group of us have journeyed down to Exeter in October to participate in the Commando Challenge. The Challenge is a seven mile cross-country and road run involving crawling through tunnels, a water tunnel and wading through chest deep black silty water. The format for the weekend is to stay overnight Friday (optional) and Saturday night and to take part in the Challenge on Sunday and to then travel back.
The date for the weekend is Friday 10th October to Sunday 12th October. As a guide the total cost last year was £90 per person for 2 people sharing a room over both Friday and Saturday nights (which included the minimum £30 sponsorship donation) or £75 per person for 3 people sharing.
Some have suggested we look to do something different this year. In which case I have alternative suggestion which is the Saab Soloman Turbo Trial at Sandhurst on the weekend of 26th/28th September. This is a similar event but involves more cross-country and at 11 miles long is very challenging.
Could you please give me feedback which event you would prefer by 22nd March? As if we choose to go for the Commando Challenge I will need to organise this early as it becoming ingreasingly popular with over 3,000 people turned down last year.
Yours in running
Dave Payne

BRENTWOOD HALF MARATHON - 9TH MARCH Posted by: byfordm on Friday, February 15, 2008 - 04:50 PM Summerchamp
| Wendy has asked me to post that the first race in the 2008 Summer Championship will be the Brentwood 1/2 on 9 March 10am. Cost is £11 and entries can be made on line or by postal application. Details can be found here.
For those of you that are undecided and are thinking of entering on the day then perhaps the £20 charge may tempt you to pre-book. Postal entries cost £11 and close 5 March.
Wendy has a full list of Championship races for this year and this will be posted shortly.

| Last Thursday (28th June) saw the third 5k of the Summer series.

The complete results were:

The complete results were:
Alan Pilgrim 17:46
